Langstone Harbour Water Skiers Association

LHWSA Member to water-ski the Solent to raise money for
Comic Relief

Hello, my name is Lauren Kemp and I was so upset by the film showing the celebrities living in Kibera, Kenya during the run up to ‘Red Nose Day’ that I have decided to do something to raise money for the people living in poverty in both Britain and Africa.

Lauren Kemp Skiing in Langstone

I really wanted to ski across the Channel and tried to get permission from the French Authorities but they refused as I am just 13. I don’t have the backing of the BBC like Christine Bleakely of The One Show – just mum and she couldn’t swing it for me!

After some suggestions from HM Coastguard in Portsmouth it was decided that I would ski from Langstone Harbour to Bembridge Harbour on the Isle of Wight – a distance of about 8 miles across a very tricky stretch of water. I intend to do this in fancy dress – in keeping with the ‘do something funny for money’ theme! (Any suggestions welcome!)

My parents will drive the boat towing me and Dave & Sarah Bridges have very kindly agreed to accompany us in their boat as a back up. Dave even suggested he might wakeboard along side me to keep me company – no sponsorship required….. Phil & Jo Hirst have also agreed to lend a hand in case of need.

I have my own page on the Red Nose Day website where you can sponsor me but we will also be carrying plenty of sponsor forms in our boat so don’t worry about not getting the opportunity to make a difference. I hope to raise in excess of £500.

My web page can be accessed via the following link:

Please click on the link and sponsor me if you can – even small amounts will make a difference.

Thank you very much.
